How Often Is The 91制片厂 Manual Updated?

The 91制片厂 Manual is updated once every 5 years. The last edition was released in 2012. This is the perfect time to stock up on 91制片厂 Manuals and Electronic Reference Files, as they will benefit you through 2022.

What Changed?

91制片厂 2017 created 21 new industries by reclassifying, combining, or splitting 29 existing industries. See a complete breakdown of 91制片厂 2017 Changes here. Our 91制片厂 Identification Tools have also been updated with the 2017 91制片厂 codes.[/column][end_columns]

Who is affected?

Statistical Agencies: Various statistical agencies, such as the Census, use the 91制片厂 (North American Industrial Classification System) to classify businesses by industry throughout the US, Canada and Mexico.

Regulatory Agencies: Regulatory agencies, such as the EPA and OSHA use 91制片厂 to establish various industry guidelines.

Government Contract Award Systems/Financial Aid:  When various levels of government offer contracts or loans, they generally classify these opportunities by 91制片厂 Code.

Businesses within the Affected Industries: If your 91制片厂 Code has changed, this may affect a number of things for your business. This may include your small business size standards from the SAM (System for Awards Management), regulatory requirements, your business profile, and

This table provides information on estimated annual sales for U.S. electronic shopping and mail-order houses (North American Industry Classification System [91制片厂] 4541) including total and e-commerce sales by primary business activity from 2011-2015.

Highlights include:

• Reallocation of Annual Retail Trade total sales and e-commerce sales based on the primary business activity, such as a physical store included in the 91制片厂 4541 estimates.
  • For example, if an electronics company has a separate e-commerce division that does not primarily fulfill orders from their brick-and-mortar stores, the online sales from the e-commerce division would be tabulated as part of the electronic shopping and mail-order houses industry, and the brick-and-mortar sales would be tabulated in electronics and appliance stores (91制片厂 443).
  • The new supplemental table redistributes those online sales for the electronics company into their primary 91制片厂 443, rather than being grouped into 91制片厂 4541.

The SBA has proposed updated size standards for the new 2017 91制片厂 Codes.听These changes, if approved as proposed, are set to go into effect on October 1, 2017.

How to Comment on the Proposed Rules:

“SBA welcomes public comment on this proposed rule. Specifically, SBA invites comments on whether its proposed size standards for new industries are appropriate and suggestions on alternative size standards, along with supporting data and analysis, if proposed size standards are not appropriate. SBA also seeks comments on its methodology for converting size standards from 91制片厂 2012 to 91制片厂 2017 and data sources and analyses it used in developing proposed size standards for certain new industries. SBA will thoroughly evaluate and address all comments in preparing the final rule the Agency will publish to adopt 91制片厂 2017 for its table of size standards.” -SBA.gov

SBA must receive comments to this proposed rule on or before June 19, 2017. Email the SBA here.

NOTE: SBA Changes its size standards to match the updated 91制片厂 Codes every 5 years and has yet to face push-back on a proposed 91制片厂-update related rule change.

How Many Industries Will Be Directly Affected?

91制片厂 2017 created 21 new industries by reclassifying, combining, or splitting 29 existing industries. The majority of the changes do not impact size standards, including the revision to codes and titles or the merging of two or more 91制片厂 2012 industries into new industries. Of the 29 91制片厂 2012 industries affected by the revision, adopting 91制片厂 2017 would not affect the size standards for 20 of them. There would be an increase in size standards for six industries and part of one industry and a decrease for two industries. The size measure of one industry would be affected by changing from average annual receipts to number of employees.

Firms Affected by Size Standard Increases:

In industries whose size standards have increased due to the adoption of 91制片厂 2017, about 60 firms above the current size standards would qualify as small under the updated size standards, thereby making them eligible for Federal small business assistance programs.

Firms Affected by Size Standard Decreases:

In the two 91制片厂 2012 industries receiving a decrease in size standard, about 3-4 firms below the current size standards would lose their small business size status under the proposed size standards. However, the program data suggests that this would not cause much impact on them. Currently, they are not participating in any small business programs. Additionally, in both industries, Federal contracting and SBA’s loan activities are quite insignificant.

Highlights of Impending 91制片厂 Changes听 Include:

Crude Petroleum and Natural Gas Extraction (2012 91制片厂 Code 211111) will be broken into two new codes in 2017. These codes will be 211120, Crude Petroleum Extraction and 211130, Natural Gas Extraction.

Also, Natural Gas Liquid Extraction, (2012 91制片厂 Code 211112) will become 91制片厂 Code 211130 in 2017.

The 2012 91制片厂 Code for Lead Ore and Zinc Ore Mining (2012 91制片厂 Code 212231) is expanding to cover Nickel Ore and Lead Ore Mining (2012 91制片厂 Code 212234)听 in one inclusive 2017 91制片厂 Code: 212230.

The 91制片厂 Codes for Pump and Pumping Equipment Manufacturing (2012 91制片厂 Code 333911) and the Code for Measuring and Dispensing Pump Manufacturing (2012 91制片厂 Code 333913) will be combined in 2017 to become 91制片厂 Code 333914, 鈥淢easuring, Dispensing and Other Pumping Equipment Manufacturing鈥�.

The 2012 91制片厂 Codes 335221, 335222, 335224 and 335228 for Household Cooking Appliance, Household Refrigerator and Home Freezer, Household Laundry Equipment and Other Major Household Appliance Manufacturing are all being combined in 2017 to the single 91制片厂 Code: 335220, 鈥淢ajor Household Appliance Manufacturing鈥�.

The 2012 91制片厂 Code 452112 is being split into two 91制片厂 Code Classifications. The first category under 452112, Discount Department Stores (insignificant perishable grocery sales) is becoming part of 91制片厂 code 452210, 鈥淒epartment Stores鈥�, along with 2012 91制片厂 Code 452111 for Department Stores (except Discount Department Stores). The Second Category under 452112, (for significant perishable grocery sales) is becoming 91制片厂 Code 452311 鈥淲arehouse Clubs and Supercenters鈥�, along with 2012 91制片厂 Code for that same category, 91制片厂 Code 452910.

2012 91制片厂 Codes 454111, 454112 and 454113 for Electronic Shopping, Electronic Auctions and Mail-Order Houses are to be classified under 2017 91制片厂 Code 454110.

The 2012 91制片厂 Code听541711 will no longer encompass 鈥淩esearch and Development in Biotechnology (except Nanobiotechnology)鈥�. Also, the 2012 91制片厂 Code 541712 will no longer encompass 鈥淩esearch and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences (except Nanotechnology and Biotechnology)鈥�. Instead, these will each be classified under the 2017 91制片厂 Code 541715, 鈥淩esearch and Development in the Physical, Engineering, and Life Sciences (except Nanotechnology and Biotechnology)鈥�

In our post, The 鈥淏ig Data鈥� Revolution, we brought up the fact that 58% of big data projects by companies last year have remained incomplete. One of the most glaring reasons for this: no one knows what they鈥檙e doing 鈥� and no one can find the people who do.
